Who Am I?

“Who Am I?” is not just one of my favorite songs from Les Miserables , but it is also the question each of us must ask ourselves throughout life if we wish to continue evolving as a person. It is, in fact, the question that led me to begin this blog. I work in corporate America now, but that work does not define me. Rather, I am defined by the 25 years of my life I spent as a West Point cadet and Army officer. It was in those capacities that I was challenged mentally, physically, and emotionally. It was in those capacities that I was forced to overcome adversity, fear, and loss. And it was in those capacities that my successes and failures made me the person I am today: a grateful husband, proud parent, and someone that continues to believe that – as Henry David Thoreau said – it is possible to achieve “success unexpected in common hours.”
